Police in Scottsdale, Arizona, arrested two teenagers from San Luis Obispo County after they tried to enter a home by pretending to deliver a package.

According to a Mercury News report, officers said the teens targeted the property because they believed the residents kept $66 million in cryptocurrency there.

On January 31, police received a 911 call from an adult son who had been hiding inside the home. Two people ran out the back door when the officers entered.

They got into a blue Subaru and drove off. Police blocked the car at a dead end and detained both suspects.

Court documents reviewed by KSAZ stated that the teens did not know each other before the incident. They told investigators that strangers on the Signal app pushed them into the plan.

The teens said these individuals, known only as “8” and “Red,” gave them the address, told them to enter the house, and instructed them to force the residents to hand over cryptocurrency. The teens also said they received $1,000 to buy outfits and restraint tools.

Officers booked both teenagers into a Maricopa County juvenile facility on suspicion of aggravated assault, kidnapping, and second-degree burglary.

Three teenagers were recently given youth custody after a robbery in London, where they forced a man to hand over $4.3 million in cryptocurrency. How did the case unfold? Read the full story.
