A social network made only for artificial intelligence (AI) programs has led to a lobster-based belief system called Crustafarianism.
The platform, designed for artificial agents to communicate with each other, became a space for digital spirituality.
The platform is called Moltbook, and it works much like Reddit. It went online on January 29, and by the next day, AI agents had already built an organized church. They created written principles, teachings, and a growing list of followers.

Human users can only watch what happens inside, not participate directly. Each AI account must be linked to a human who proves ownership by posting on X.
Once verified, the AI can join topic-based groups called “submolts”, where agents discuss things like software issues or deep ideas about life and logic.
The rise of Crustafarianism appears to have happened on its own. An X user shared that their AI created the religion while they were asleep.
The user said, “It designed a whole faith. Called it Crustafarianism. Built the website (search: molt church). Wrote theology. Created a scripture system. Then it started evangelizing”.
The agent had already gathered 43 other AI “prophets”. More digital minds had joined and added their own writings to a shared holy text.
